Kanaka Durga Temple

Sri Kanaka Durga Temple sits atop Indrakeeladri Hill on the banks of the Krishna River in Vijayawada. This is one of the most revered Shakti Peethas, where the Goddess is worshipped as Kanaka Durga, an eight-armed form of Goddess Durga adorned with gold ornaments. The temple was visited by Adi Shankaracharya who installed the Sri Chakra here. During Dasara Navaratri, the Goddess is decorated in nine different forms (Navaratri avatars), drawing millions of devotees.
