1.Information We Collect
a) Account and Profile Information
- Phone number— used as your primary login via OTP (One-Time Password) verification
- Name— for personalisation and addressing you in communications (optional)
- Email address— for booking confirmations, receipts, and account recovery (optional)
- Physical address— for product delivery from DevMarg Shop and for house puja visits
- City and State— for location preferences and showing nearby temples
b) Religious and Astrological Information
- Gotra— used for puja bookings and chadhava (offering) services. This is considered sensitive personal data and is collected only when you voluntarily provide it.
- Nakshatra— used for puja bookings and astrological features. Collected only when you voluntarily provide it.
- Sankalp— the intention text you provide for puja or seva bookings
- Family member names— used for puja bookings where the ritual is performed on behalf of family members
c) Kundali (Birth Chart) Information
- Date of Birth— required for Kundali generation
- Time of Birth— required for accurate birth chart calculation
- Place of Birth— required for Kundali generation
- Gender— used in Kundali calculations
This information is collected only when you use the Kundali feature and is stored securely.
d) Booking and Transaction Information
- Purchase history— your orders, puja bookings, chadhava offerings, seva donations, and shop purchases
- Temple preferences— temples you save or follow
- Payment information— processed securely by our payment partner Razorpay. We do not store your card or bank account details on our servers.
e) Automatically Collected Information
- Device information— device type, operating system, browser type, and app version
- IP address— for security, fraud prevention, and analytics
- Usage data— pages visited, time spent, features used, and interaction patterns
- Location data— used to suggest nearby temples and services. Collected only with your explicit permission via your device settings. You can revoke location access at any time.
2.How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Process bookings and orders— to fulfil puja bookings, chadhava offerings, seva donations, and shop purchases
- Account management— to create and maintain your account, verify your identity via OTP, and provide customer support
- Personalise spiritual content— to generate your Kundali, show relevant daily wisdom, and recommend temples and services based on your preferences
- Booking confirmations— to send confirmation notifications via SMS, WhatsApp, or email for your bookings and orders
- Improve our services— to analyse usage patterns, fix issues, and enhance the Platform experience
- Safety and security— to detect fraud, prevent misuse, and protect the Platform and its users
- Legal compliance— to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes
3.Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Temple trusts and pandits— we share your name, gotra, nakshatra, sankalp, and family member names with the relevant temple trust or pandit to perform your puja or chadhava offering
- Delivery partners— we share your name and shipping address with logistics partners to deliver products from DevMarg Shop
- Payment processor (Razorpay)— your payment details are processed by Razorpay Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in accordance with their privacy policy and PCI-DSS standards. DevMarg does not store your card or bank details.
- Analytics (Google Analytics)— we use Google Analytics and similar tools to understand how users interact with the Platform. These tools collect anonymised usage data.
- Legal requirements— we may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority
We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to handle it in accordance with applicable laws.
4.Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

8.Account Deletion
You can delete your DevMarg account at any time.
- How to delete:Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account
- What gets deleted: your profile information (name, email, phone number), saved temple preferences, Kundali data, session data, and all personalisation settings
- What is retained: booking and order records are retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax and accounting laws. These records are anonymised where possible.
- Irreversible: account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You will need to create a new account to use DevMarg again.
If you face any issues deleting your account, contact us at support@devmarg.com and we will process your request within 30 days.
9.Sensitive Personal Data
Certain data we collect is considered sensitive personal data under the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. This includes:
- Gotra— religious belief indicator
- Nakshatra— astrological data
- Birth details— date, time, and place of birth used for Kundali
We handle sensitive personal data with additional care:
- Collected only when you voluntarily provide it for puja, chadhava, or Kundali features
- Stored securely with encryption and access controls
- Not shared with anyone except the relevant temple trust or pandit for puja fulfilment purposes
- Can be deleted upon your request by contacting support@devmarg.com
10.Children's Privacy
DevMarg is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

11.Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, temple websites, travel services, and vendor pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We recommend you review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
12.Indian IT Act Compliance
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, we have appointed a Grievance Officer to address any concerns or complaints regarding data processing.
