Origin & The Divine Axe

Born as Rama (son of Jamadagni), he performed intense penance to please Shiva, who granted him the Parashu (axe) — hence Parashurama. He mastered all martial arts and became invincible. He is the ideal of the warrior-scholar.

Revenge Against Kshatriyas

When King Kartavirya Arjuna killed his father Jamadagni, Parashurama vowed revenge. He defeated the corrupt Kshatriyas 21 times, filling five lakes with their blood at Samantapanchaka. This represents divine retribution against tyranny.

Role in Ramayana & Mahabharata

In the Ramayana, Parashurama challenges Rama after he breaks Shiva's bow but acknowledges Rama's superiority. In the Mahabharata, he was the guru of Bhishma, Drona, and Karna, training the greatest warriors of the epic.

Chiranjeevi & Legacy

As an immortal, Parashurama is believed to still exist, meditating on Mahendragiri mountain. He will train Kalki (Vishnu's final avatar) in warfare. The Konkan coast is said to have been reclaimed from the sea by his axe throw.
