Sabarmati Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram, is where Mahatma Gandhi lived with Kasturba Gandhi and from where he launched the historic Dandi March (Salt Satyagraha) on March 12, 1930. Spanning 36 acres on the banks of the Sabarmati River, it houses Hriday Kunj (Gandhi's personal residence), Vinoba Kutir, Upasana Mandir (prayer hall), and the Gandhi Sangrahalaya museum. It is a living memorial to the principles of truth, non-violence, and simplicity.
No accommodation available at the ashram for tourists. It is a heritage site and museum. Numerous hotels are available in nearby Ahmedabad, ranging from budget to luxury.
