Amritapuri Ashram is the spiritual headquarters of Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), known worldwide as the hugging saint. Built in 1981 on the coastal land where Amma was born, it is now home to 3,500 residents including monastic disciples, spiritual seekers, and families. When Amma is present, she offers darshan (her signature embrace), guided meditation, and bhajan singing. The ashram practices selfless service and runs extensive humanitarian programs worldwide.
Basic but clean accommodation. Indians pay ₹250/night, foreigners pay ₹600/night. Original ID required. Registration must be done online before arrival. Taxi pick-up from Trivandrum and Kochi airports can be arranged.
