Murudeshwar Temple

Murudeshwar Temple is home to the world's second tallest Shiva statue at 123 feet (37 meters), sitting majestically overlooking the Arabian Sea from Kanduka Hill. The temple complex was built by industrialist R.N. Shetty and features a stunning 20-story rajagopuram (one of the tallest in the world) with an elevator to the top offering panoramic ocean views. According to mythology, a piece of the sacred Atmalinga fell here when Ravana was tricked by Lord Ganesha while transporting it from Kashi to Lanka.
