What Hinduism Offers the Environmental Movement

The modern environmental movement is based on science and policy. Hinduism offers something deeper: a spiritual motivation to care for nature. When your river is a goddess, you fight harder to clean her. When your tree is sacred, you plant and protect with devotion. The Bishnoi community in Rajasthan has protected trees and wildlife for 500 years, with members historically sacrificing their lives to save trees. That level of commitment comes from faith, not policy papers.
