The 16 samskaras — from naming ceremony to last rites and everything between
Griha Pravesh is the Hindu housewarming ceremony performed when entering a new home for the first time. There are three types: Apoorva (brand-new home), Sapoorva (returning after renovation), and Dwandwa (re-entering after disaster). The ceremony involves selecting an auspicious muhurat, performing Ganesh-Lakshmi puja, boiling milk until it overflows, and lighting a havan to sanctify the space with Vedic mantras.
The 16 Samskaras are sacred Hindu rites of passage that mark every significant milestone from conception to death. They include prenatal blessings (Garbhadhana), naming ceremony (Namakarana), first feeding (Annaprashana), sacred thread (Upanayana), marriage (Vivaha), and final rites (Antyeshti). These rituals purify the individual and connect them to divine grace at each life transition.
