Visit Shiva Temple
Devotees visit the nearest Shiva temple and offer prayers, bael leaves, milk, and flowers to the Shiva Lingam during the morning puja.
Day-long Fast
A strict fast is observed throughout the day. Some devotees abstain from food and water entirely, while others consume only fruits and milk.
Night Vigil (Jagaran)
Staying awake through the four praharas (quarters) of the night, devotees chant Om Namah Shivaya, sing bhajans, and meditate on Lord Shiva.
Shiva Abhishekam
The Shiva Lingam is ritually bathed with milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and water while Vedic mantras are chanted. This is the central ritual of the night.
Morning Conclusion
At dawn, devotees break their fast after final prayers. Prasad (blessed food) is distributed among the community.
